Spring Contacts

Spring Loaded Contacts and Contact Pads

By using either spring forces inherent in bent metal, or an encapsulated miniature spring, these contacts can provide a single contact point for connection, without any specific style of mating connector required. Just a plain conductive surface is required, either to conduct signal current, or for grounding purposes.

SMT Spring Contacts

A comprehensive range of single piece spring contacts, suitable for shielding, grounding, mobile phone antenna and other general electrical connection applications. Also known as antenna contacts, grounding contacts or shield fingers.

  • Development Kit DEV-001 with 16 different contacts and free refills
  • 30 different designs, ranging from 1.23mm to 7.25mm vertical free heights
  • Option of horizontal spring contacts for 90 degree connection
  • Protected tip options to prevent hooking
  • Positive stop options, to prevent over-stressed contacts
  • Mounted in a row, the contacts can provide an excellent RFI shielding connection for metal doors or other cabinet enclosures
  • The contact design ensures positive contact with the mating surface, and is tolerant to both wiping and sliding action
  • All contacts are Surface Mount, supplied in Tape and Reel packaging for automated assembly placement

Spring Loaded SMT Contacts – Pogo Pins

Spring loaded contacts consist of a plunger (or head), barrel (or body), and a fully encapsulated fine spring, to provide the spring force required to maintain positive contact. All have a high durability, exceeding 10,000 mating cycles.

  • Surface mountable vertical spring loaded contact pins, free height from 2.8mm to 8.2mm
  • Option of Throughboard peg – can be used for Plated-Through-Hole soldering, or just as a SMT location peg
  • Rounded contact heads with Gold finish for minimal wear
  • Some options supplied in Tape and Reel packaging for automated assembly systems

ATE Test Probes

Probes ideal for automated test equipment (ATE), mounted in a “bed of nails” layout. Consists of a plunger (or head), barrel (or body), and a fully encapsulated fine spring, to provide the spring force required to maintain positive contact. All have exceptional durability to cope with multiple testing cycles.

  • Throughboard design for glue or solder application
  • Single piece, or two-piece probe and sleeve – probe can be replaced at end of life without de-soldering
  • A variety of head style choices, for contact through contamination or leaving no contact marking
  • Durability exceeds 100,000 mating cycles
  • Choice of end terminations for wire-wrap, crimp or solder to test leads

SMT Contact Pads

Multi-purpose flat contact pads for Surface Mount fixing – thicknesses between 0.1mm and 0.5mm. Ideal for providing a more robust surface than direct track contact.

  • Supplied in Tape and Reel packaging for automated assembly systems
  • Gold finish for maximum wear resistance
  • Choice of contact pad shapes – square, round or oval
