We’ve Added Through-Hole Retention to the Kontrol Industrial Connector Range

We've just expanded our Kontrol connector range, adding through-hole retention (THR) options for industrial and embedded applications. These new connectors offer better resilience and improved board-level reliability, especially in demanding environments. With 72 new products added, the range is now 48% bigger, giving engineers more choice and flexibility.

Industrial environments are changing fast. Today's applications and equipment need to handle more vibration and higher data throughput — all while fitting into tighter spaces.

This launch is part of a bigger shift we've been making - bringing features we originally designed for our high-reliability connectors into the Kontrol Range.

As industrial demands grow, we want to make sure engineers have access to proven performance, even in more compact or cost-sensitive designs. In testing, through-hole retention delivered up to twice the PCB retention force compared to surface mount options. The Kontrol THR series is rated for:

Like other Kontrol connectors, these devices feature a 1.27 (0.05") pitch and are available in nine pin variants from 6+6 to 40+40 layouts, and both vertical and horizontal options for space-constrained environments.

We’ve designed these connectors with reliability and ease of assembly in mind. They’re fully shrouded with recessed contacts to help prevent damage, and polarized so they can only be assembled one way — perfect for blind mating.

Our Kontrol THR connectors are available now and in tape and reel packaging for automated assembly processes. They are free from lead, brominated flame retardants, red phosphor (PFOS/PFOA) and antimony, and are fully RoHS Compatible and contain no REACH SVHCs.
