Frequently Asked Questions Ask a Question
What are the U-shaped plugs/staples supplied with this connector?
These U-shaped plugs (that look like staples) are throughboard hold-down straps, supplied with all horizontal male Datamate L-Tek. You can see them shown red in the inset pictures on the relevant Datamate L-Tek catalog pages, and we have a Product Training Module on their use. It can also be used with vertical male L-Tek, purchased separately under part number M80-0030006.
The Technical Drawing will show the 4 holes required for using these straps in your assembly, and they can be either soldered to the PCB on the underside, or with pin-in-paste soldering.

Do you have a tool to help separate this connector when it is latched to the mating half?
The tool you need is the Z80-299. This is a kit of a handle, cross-bars and two latch separators, and has instructions to help you assemble the tool to the right size for your connector.
