Current Options for RoHS Compliance at Harwin

The chart below is an overview of each product range and its RoHS and Non-RoHS options. For exact information on a product, please contact Harwin on leadfree@harwin.co.uk. Scroll down to see a summary of Finish codes used in Harwin part numbers.

Please note, our Hand tooling is not affected by the RoHS and WEEE legislations, as it is not electrical equipment.

Finish Codes

Finish codes are normally located as the last two numbers within a Harwin Part number, although occasionally (such as Datamate Mix-Tek), they maybe located elsewhere within the part number.

RoHS Compliant finish codes that were allocated at the beginning of the RoHS compliance project guarantee that the item is both fully RoHS compliant, and use high-temperature plastics where applicable. These finish codes are:

  • 42 = Gold on contact area, 100% Tin on Tails
  • 45 = Gold
  • 46 = 100% Tin

Previous, historical, finish codes are more varied, and the same code may have different meanings depending on the product range being considered. Some may be compliant, and some may not. To be certain of the finish, please consult the applicable technical drawing, or e-mail technical@harwin. Here is a summary of typical codes used:

  • 00 = Unspecified colour (plastics) or unplated
  • 01 = 100% Tin (Terminals, H2XXX, some H3XXXX, H9XXX)
     = Tin/Lead (Shorting Links D308X-01)
= Gold Clip, 100% Tin shell (PCB Loose Sockets, H3XXX)
= Gold Clip, Tin/Lead shell (Datamate Female)
  • 02 = Nickel
  • 05 = Gold (RoHS Compliant, but not always High Temperature, check drawing)
  • 06 = Tin/Lead
  • T6 = Tin/Lead
  • 22 = Gold on contact area, Tin/Lead on tails
  • 87 to 99 = Plastic colour, see drawing for metal finish and colour
