High-reliability connector system contributes to RoboCup success

As a project for their final year, multi disciplinary Engineering degree, students from the University of Warwick were challenged to develop a robot to compete in the 2010 RoboCup Rescue league. To help them achieve this, they chose to use Harwin's Mix-Tek Datamate range to handle both signal and power within the same device saving space and weight.

Reliably making contact

Many applications need an interconnect system with a high-reliability contact, but often these cannot be assembled using automated processes. However, a new contact system has now been developed that offers the reliability required yet can be assembled using automated crimping equipments. Paul Gillam, product manager at Harwin explains.

Ambitious NASA robot project relies on Harwin interconnect

The NASA team endeavoured to develop and demonstrate a humanoid robotic system to work side by side with people; or to operate where the risks are too great. NASA were looking to spec a connector that would be highly reliable, miniature and lightweight.
