Companies "share green concerns and growth targets"
Harwin, the Portsmouth-based manufacturer of high reliability interconnect systems, has named Farnell as its European Distributor of the Year, citing sales growth and support tools such as catalogues and online activities, plus the distributor's approach to environmental issues as factors that influenced the final decision.
Comments Harwin's Managing Director, Andrew McQuilken (pictured right): "Farnell is well-known for its comprehensive and high quality suite of catalogues. Their website is also very informative and user-friendly. These are invaluable tools. And Farnell has also introduced Harwin and our products to key decision makers in Europe – especially in Germany, France and Spain – which has helped drive sales growth."
He continues: "Harwin and Farnell also share concerns about green issues – for example, we have recently invested in a Pero V0 Universal Plant cleaning machine which has helped us to reduce solvent consumption by over 90%. Farnell has similar views and is very pro-active with respect to RoHS and the environment."
Replies Sam Pease, (pictured centre) Supplier Account Manager Farnell EPAC: "It is great to be working with responsible companies like Harwin, who have proved that you can be competitive and meet all latest legislation yet still manufacture in Europe. This means that we can be very responsive and flexible to meet our customers' requirements."
